The Chippa United Football Club was formed in 2010 when Siviwe (Chippa) Mpengesi acquired the Mbekweni Cosmos FC who were participating in the SAFA 2nd division. Initially headquartered in Cape Town, Chippa United FC moved to Port Elizabeth and the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in July 2014.

Chippa United FC was formed in 2010 when Mr Siviwe (Chippa) Mpengesi acquired the status of Mbekweni Cosmos FC who were participating in the SAFA 2nd division league and he bought them toward the end of 2009. The club has a feeder team called Peace Makers FC in the form of Under 17 & Under 19 teams. The club pride itself in having excellent sports programmes which will nurture and produce a lot of young and upcoming youngsters. Chippa has opened up their doors and is been used as a platform for disadvantaged youngsters.

Tthe Spring Rose Rugby Club was founded in 1907 by two Port Elizabethans, Charles (Zet) Fushane and William Thube. Spring Rose is famous for their rugby and as the home of the Watson’s who played non-racial rugby for Spring Rose.
The African Bombers Rugby Club was established in 1954 and has a membership of about 200. The club has recently been promoted to the Grand Challenge League of the EPRU.
The Southern Kings rugby team is based in Port Elizabeth and competes in the Super Rugby competition. The creation of the team was formally announced at the opening of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on 16 June 2009. The Southern Kings’ catchment area is made up of the Eastern Cape, and parts of the Western Cape. The Kings draw players from 3 provincial unions: Eastern Province, Border (East London) and SWD (George).
Wayne Parnell – Proteas and Chevrolet Warriors cricketer. A Left-handed Batsman and a Left-arm medium-fast bowler. Born in Port Elizabeth on 30 July 1989 nd attended Grey High School.
Michael Stephen is a multiple South African motorsport champion, who currently participates in the Bridgestone Production Car Championship. Motorsport has always been a passion, Michael won his first karting race at the tender age of 8 and has never looked back collecting championships along the way.
