In today’s fast-paced digital world, finding images for your website, blog, or social media feed is often a painful process. Modern stock photography sites drown you in myriad choices: complex licensing agreements, complicated rights structures, and confusing price points based on resolution.
1600.co.za was born in reaction to that complexity.
We accept that most of the time, people just want to download a high-quality image and post it to Social Media, use it on their own website, or illustrate an article.
To serve this need, we stripped away the confusion:
- No complex licensing: We offer straightforward usage rights for web and digital purposes.
- One standardized width: All stock images are delivered at 1600 pixels wide—the optimal size for most modern web interfaces and social platforms.
A Focus on the Bay (And Beyond)
This platform serves as a central hub for the tens of thousands of images captured by Alan Straton over his career.
While the archive is diverse and covers many subjects beyond our borders, 1600 has a special focus on Nelson Mandela Bay (Gqeberha). Here you will find extensive coverage of the people, landmarks, events, and scenery of the Eastern Cape.
