4 Savvy Ways to Keep your Children Safe and Healthy
It’s a germ-filled world out there and trying to keep your family safe and healthy without turning into a complete germophobe is easier said than done. We tend to always want the best for our children – to keep them strong, happy and always learning. But when playtime is strictly home bound and sticky fingers a given, how do we ensure they remain exploring while staying healthy?
Fact of the matter is that younger children and babies have weaker immune systems, making them more susceptible to bacterial and viral infections and allergens. It’s for this reason that we need to ensure their living environments are made as clean and pristine as possible.
But how exactly do we go about this? How can parents limit the possibility of their children’s immune systems from becoming affected by these threat.
1. Keep clothes clean with LG home appliances
The key to keeping your home bacteria-free starts with TrueSteam Technology which uses high temperature steam to disinfect and sterilise clothes. That’s where the LG TwinWash comes into play.
Taking the health of your family seriously, the washing machine has a proven allergen kill rate of 99.9%, making it the perfect solution to keeping your clothes clean. It’s shocking to note that most cold and flu viruses can live up to 12 hours on porous surfaces, placing you (and your child) at a greater risk when popping out to the store for essentials.
The best option to avoid any contamination is to immediately wash your hands and load a wash with the potentially comprised clothing and let your washing machine do what it does best: keeping your family clean and bacteria-free.
2. Keep washing those hands
The trick to practising good hygiene is leading by example. This includes frequently washing your hands, avoiding close contact with other people, coughing or sneezing into your bent elbow or a tissue, and avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
When it comes to small children, these rules still apply. That’s why it’s recommended you wash your hands vigorously for 20 seconds with soap and water before touching your baby or child. While hand sanitiser will do the trick of eliminating bacteria, nothing works quite as well as a good scrub between the fingers and under the nails.
3. Thoroughly clean their toys
Younger children are known for sneaking things into their mouths or chewing on anything they can get their little hands on. However cute this might’ve been before; this puts them at significant risk of contracting some type of disease or virus.
Instead of risking it, an effective and easy way to clean toys is by popping them into the dishwasher or washing machine, let the machine run its course and return your child’s beloved clean-as-a-whistle toy to them.
Similar to the LG TwinWash, the LG QuadWash Dishwasher has TrueSteam Technology which emits high-temperature steam that ensures hygienic cleaning, and anti-bacterial disinfection during its washing – the perfect way to sanitise toys.
4. Limit contact with strangers
Last but certainly not least, lockdown ensures that you don’t have any visitors over, exposing your newborn, young ones or elderly parents to unwanted germs. It’s then equally important to only go out for essential goods and stay home with family.
While it’s easy for us to feel disheartened by these laws, it is always important to look at things from a positive perspective. Instead of feeling like “I can’t see my friends and family” consider a mindset of “I am protecting my friends and family and they, in turn, are protecting me”.
