The 17th annual National CANSA Shavathon will be held on Saturday, March 28th from 9am to 2pm at the Park Boulevard Shopping Centre.
This year’s theme, ‘Hope 2020’, is apt, as participants will be giving ‘Hope’ to cancer survivors and loved ones, by showing solidarity in their fight against cancer as they stencil, spray or shave their hair.
More people are living with cancer, and they need a public show of support to encourage them to keep fighting and adapting to living with the side effects of treatment.
The Shavathon event began in 2003 in the Eastern Cape, as a way to show solidarity or support for cancer patients, as losing hair is a common side effect of cancer therapy. Since then the event has gone national. It’s an annual event where participants show support by donating a fee to shave or spray their hair.
So, “shave” some time and pop in and show your support and solidatory to those with cancer.
To participate, adults pay just R50 and children under 12 pay R25, with all funds going towards CANSA’s care and support programmes for patients, caregivers and loved ones.
