From Single Mom to South Africa’s Luxury Interior Design Leader – The Giava Interiors Story:

The award-winning luxury interior design studio is sharing the inspiring journey of its founder and CEO, Vinette Diab-Nicholls — a single mother who turned her passion for design into one of South Africa’s most respected bespoke interior design brands.
Founded in 2019 and named after her two youngest daughters, Gia and Ava, Giava Interiors began as a small residential decorating business in Johannesburg. Today, it is known for creating tailored, story-driven interiors for luxury lodges, premium estates, and high-end commercial projects across the country.
“Designing spaces is what I do. But designing a life my daughters can be proud of? That’s what drives me,” says Diab-Nicholls.
Breaking into South Africa’s competitive luxury interiors market required both grit and vision. “In the early days, I took on small projects, built strong client relationships, and immersed myself in every detail — from design concepts to budgets, sourcing, and on-site installation,” she explains. “Over time, people could see the passion and precision that went into every project.”
As a single mother, Diab-Nicholls believes motherhood has been her greatest business teacher. “It taught me how to juggle multiple priorities, solve problems creatively, and never lose sight of my purpose.”
Giava Interiors’ design philosophy centres on collaboration and meaning. “We don’t just decorate; we translate a client’s personality into a space that’s both functional and deeply personal. Every room tells a story.”
Looking ahead, Giava Interiors is expanding its focus on the high-end hospitality sector while creating opportunities for young designers and artisans. “We want to deliver world-class interiors while empowering the next generation of creative talent in South Africa,” says Diab-Nicholls.
